energy in biology and medicine.

Abstract: 
The "biological engine" of living cells is electromagnetic energy. Activated by light, which consists of photons, firstly described by Einstein in 1905, they generate electrical charges, which activate cellular and tissue reactions. They can be modulated by the application of local external electromagnetic energy.G.

 Resume:
A/Prof. Haim Stein is an orthopaedic surgeon and was director of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa 1981-2002 and is now an Assoc. Professor in orthopaedic surgery at The Medical School of The Technion in Haifa, in charge of all the orthopaedic undergraduate training. He has a M.D, from The Hebrew Univ. Jerusalem, 1966, and a D.Phil in joint physiology from Oxford, 1976. He has been a visiting professor at Adelaide, 1982, Pittsburgh, 1997, and Louisiana State Univ., 2001. He was the founding medical director for The Lewis National Limb Rehabilitation Institute in Israel and member of The Sirot executive committee 1993-2002. His main research interest is the contribution of muscle tissue to bone gap and fracture healing, showing that fractures actually heal from muscle.
