A. S. Nazmul Huda – Efficient Evaluation of Components Availability Effect on Distribution Systems Reliability by Multilevel Monte Carlo Method

Abstract:

The reliability model of distribution systems is influenced by its components reliability and availability. The seminar presents the effects of distribution system components availability on reliability results in a computationally efficient way. We use a novel Multilevel Monte Carlo (MLMC) method to speed up traditional Monte Carlo (MC) method based reliability assessment. The MLMC method is implemented through solving the stochastic differential equation of components random failure process using Milstein discretisation scheme. Two selected reliability indices are evaluated using distribution networks of Roy Billinton Test System (RBTS) connected to Bus 4.

Biography: 

S. Nazmul Huda obtained his BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh in 2009 and MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Science Malaysia in 2014. He is currently working towards his PhD degree in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Adelaide. His research interests include power system reliability evaluation, intelligent condition monitoring of electrical system and renewable energy.
