Research Projects

  • Rotor position detection for switched reluctance motor drives
    • A complete drive system which includes several distinct subsystems: a motor, a power electronic converter, interfaces, A/D converters and a DSP (ADSP-21020) has been developed. A fuzzy sensorless algorithm is investigated.
    • Dr Nesimi Ertugrul
  • Developing a LabView-based computer-controlled test system for electrical machines and drives
    • Dr Nesimi Ertugrul, Dr Michael J. Gibbard
  • Development of a portable torque/thrust/speed measuring system for a drill head
    • Dr Nesimi Ertugrul and Mr S. Mavrakis
  • Investigation of brushless permanent magnet motor drives operating with the minimum number of sensors
    • Mr Ying Li (PhD candidate) and Dr Nesimi Ertugrul
  • Reconstruction of the line currents of the three-phase motor drives from the DC link current
    • Dr Nesimi Ertugrul
  • Study and design of an electric bicycle and investigation of optimum battery power
    • Mr. Stuart I. Brand (Masters candidate) and Dr Nesimi Ertugrul
