Texas Instruments has developed a very high density 1.2 Gbit solid state recorder using standard SRAMs [36]. This device presents a solution for the problems associated with magnetic storage mediums. The fabricated device, shown in Figure
, has the following features:
Figure: TI 1.2 Gbit Solid state recorder (Source from [36]).
- 1286 chips
- 10 ASICs

- 1272 SRAMs (1 Mbit each)
- 4 Buffers
- Built on 7 substrates, each tested as sub-assemblies
- Size of less than 10 in
- Weight of less than 0.5 lbs
- 10 Mbits/s data bandwidth
- TAB used for chip pre-assembly tests.
